The
Missing Curriculum is a two-day, interactive,
skill-based training program designed for public school teachers
and staff. Through discussions, individual role-plays, video examples,
and numerous group practices, teachers learn to recognize students
behavioral deficits, analyze and teach preferred skills, and encourage
the acquisition of these skills.
Teachers
Will Learn:
- The six
social competencies basic to classroom success,
- How to
introduce those competencies to their students,
- How to
strengthen the students use of the competencies,
- How to
correct problem student behavior from a supportive stance and
how to then teach the appropriate preferred skill, and
- How to
communicate with students in ways that are preferred by the
students.
The
Missing Curriculum training is supported by follow-up
consultation visits in the classroom. These consultation visits
are designed to assist teachers with implementation.
The
Missing Curriculum Will:
- Decrease
the time teachers spend managing student behavior,
- Increase
the time teachers spend on academic instruction,
- Decease
office referrals,
- Improve
teacher stress levels, and
- Enhance
and sustain a positive atmosphere in your school by emphasizing
skill acquisition rather than behavior problems and discipline.
