Description of Work: Make a difference by becoming a role model for adolescent males from neglected and abusive backgrounds. Program Model to be implemented is the Teaching-Family Model. The home implements the Teaching-Family Model of care. Located in the upstate of South Carolina, the home has been in operation for over 20 years and has recently been renovated. We are looking for someone with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work. This position requires 4 to 8 overnight stays per month. This is a full-time position. Training and consultation support services are provided by Appalachian Family Innovations in Morganton, NC.

Description of work: Rainbow Center for Children is a private non-profit agency that provides a continuum of services including four residential cottages. Teaching-Parents work 14 days per month (extra pay for days over 14 per month) on a typical rotation of seven days on and seven days off (opposite another couple) with additional days of training and other responsibilities as needed. Individuals or couples encouraged to become a part of our community.


Teaching-Parent starting salary range is $23,660 to $25,000 per person based on education & experience with generous benefits package. Degree in human services field preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered. Description of Work: Currently interviewing couples, without children, to be the Teaching-Parents at Whitewater Cove, a children’s home located on 10 acres with organic gardens in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains near Brevard, NC. This recently renovated and well furnished home serves 5-6 girls and/or boys (ages 6-18) from Transylvania and surrounding counties. Children served attend local schools. The position requires the couple to live in the residence 20 days per month, with 10 days off per month. Lodging and all meals are provided during shifts. Salary for the couple starts at $50,000—great opportunity to serve children while saving for the future. Medical/dental/life insurance provided after 90 days of service. Pre-service training, consultation, and evaluation will be provided by Appalachian Family Innovations, a division of Appalachian State University. Description of Work: Youth Homes, Inc. is seeking a married couple, or 2 individuals, to work with at-risk male youth in a group home setting. These positions are considered “live in” and are provided with room/board amenities. The successful candidates will be strongly committed to serving youth who are removed temporarily from their homes, as well as being members of a team of professionals who serve youth in care. Experience in the Teaching-Family Model and residential care preferred, but not required. Competitive salary and benefits.
