Toby was severely abused and neglected--going days without eating. He was also exposed to drugs and gun violence at a very young age. When he first moved in with his foster mother, he was a very shy 12 year old boy afraid of everything... the dark, bright lights, noises, sleeping by windows, etc. Now, he's a compassionate young man looking for his "forever family" that will adopt him.

Founded in 1891, Barium Springs is a Critical Access Behavior Health Agency with a full array of services offered in 41 North Carolina counties. At Barium Springs, we work hard to help as many children and families as we can. Last year we cared for 1,927 children. This year, we served 2,995. Due to huge growth in our agency, we cared for 55% more than last year!
