In
1996, Professional Parenting began a program specializing in the
treatment of adolescent sexual offenders. The objectives of the
program are to provide a broad range of services to adjudicated
youthful offenders to allow these youth to remain in their homes,
to promote safety in the community, and to prevent further sexual
offending.
Referrals
to the program are made through the Buncombe County Department of
Juvenile Justice. Our program offers services to clients who have
been adjudicated for various sexual offenses, and have been ordered
by the Court to participate in an evaluation and/or treatment for
these problems. The program is currently funded through the Juvenile
Crime Prevention Council and the United Way.
This
community-based program provides the following specific services:
- Psychosexual
Evaluation (Sex Offender-Specific Evaluation)
- In-home family
therapy
- Weekly sex
offender-specific group therapy
- Monthly parent
education/support group
- Individual

- Individualized
safety plans in the home, school and community
- On-going
