Community Commitment

Home Remedies offers the Community Commitment Program in the 25th Judicial District, Burke, Caldwell, and Catawba counties. This program serves families with juveniles at high risk of being removed from their community and placed in Youth Developmental Centers (YDC) or have already been placed in YDCs and are reuniting with their family and community. The program goals are:  1) to increase parenting skills by teaching behavior management skills, communication skills, limit setting, how to establish expectations, behavior contracting and how to avoid power struggles; 2) increase youth’s ability to learn, master, and use social skills and life skills.

Community Commitment Program provides fifteen weeks of concentrated support in the family's home and community. A specially trained family preservation worker, who is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, provides a mix of counseling and teaching skills to help with practical problems that is tailored to each family's unique situation. The worker carries a caseload of three families at a time.

To Make a Referral to this Program: Due to strict eligibility criteria, referrals can only be accepted from the Department of Juvenile Justice.
